Commercial Law Conference
11 - 18 January 2003

In january 2000 star dean-willcocks proudly sponsored the inaugural australian accountants conference in aspen, colorado, usa and in 2001 and 2002 the conference was held at whistler blackcomb, british columbia, canada. those conferences were outstandingly successful and enjoyed professionally and socially by all.

Gillis Delaney Brown, Lawyers co-sponsored the Australian Accountants Conferences until 2002 when it joined Star Dean-Willcocks as a major sponsor of the Australian Accountants Conference incorporating The Commercial Law Conference.

This year the Conference has been fortunate to secure the support and participation by way of co-sponsorship of Parker Asset Management Limited and O'Maras Valuers & Auctioneers for the fourth Australian Accountants Conference.
Their participation is welcome and support much appreciated.

Previous conferences have been well attended by both accountants and lawyers and the cross fertilisation without exception extended professionally every presentation. Additionally the open forum sessions provided a stimulating interchange beneficial to both professions. With the consolidation of multi-disciplinary practices and with accountants venturing into wider areas of practice, the scene is set for another beneficial foray.

Clearly, the professional who keeps up to date with recent developments is in a better position to best conduct his or her practice or business, not only for the benefit of clients and customers, but in a manner to best protect him or herself. The GST had been a significant issue during the 18 months prior to the 2002 Conference however international events such as September 11 and the Enron collapse (and their worldwide ramifications) and domestic events such as major corporate collapses (and the resulting focus on auditors' and directors' duties), interest rate increases and continuing developments in employment law are some of the issues professionals are currently focusing on.

How do we identify problems before they overtake our clients and just where do you and your clients invest. In its fourth year, the Australian Accountants Conference incorporating The Commercial Law Conference is an attempt to create meaningful discussion to find new and creative solutions to problems in these areas and more.

The conference program has been structured to be of professional interest to other advisers who are often called upon by the accountant and/or lawyer. The sponsors would welcome, and indeed encourage non accountants and lawyers to attend the conference for the mutual benefit of all delegates.

In addition to an active professional and social program a number of selected topics may be of interest to accompanying persons who are cordially invited to attend those sessions. The Conference provides a great opportunity to compensate partners and families for the disruption caused by the demands of the busy professional and commercial life. Your family can be actively or passively involved in various aspects of the program.

The Australian Accountants Conference 2003 incorporating The Commercial Law Conference will emulate the high standard of professional content and relaxed friendly environment of the inaugural Conference held in Aspen in 2000 continued in Whistler in 2001 and 2002. The Conference is promoted by Value Tours (Aust) Pty Limited.

The program is designed to provide CPE, CPD and CLE points for participation (however practitioners should make independent enquiry of same). Kindly note that early registration is highly recommended. Numbers are limited and places will be allocated strictly in order of receipt of completed booking forms and payment. As package prices have been negotiated on group fares and hotel rates, immediate confirmation for those wishing to register outside the package can not be offered however a waiting list will be established and places offered only in the event of the Conference package not being fully subscribed. In the event of the Conference being fully subscribed all subsequent booking and registration fees received will be refunded.
